The Unionville Girls Soccer Team took on the stingy Downingtown West team last Wednesday night.  The game was a battle but the Unionville girls delivered in the clutch with a 3-1 win.  The offense was led by Jackie Hug, Sam Ciccarelli & Veronica Hineman all netting goals.  The defense led District one with fourteen shutouts and only allowed 6 goals the entire season.  The defensive front includes Erin Garvey, Lauren Bell, Lindsey Barrett & Melanie Landry.

This marks one of the most successful seasons in Unionville history as the soccer team won the Ches Mont League Title by going undefeated (13-0) and maintain an overall record of 16-2.  They enter District playoffs  ranked #4 in the extremely fierce District One.  Unionville will host the winner of the WC Rustin/Lower Merion game on Thursday, October 26th.

Unionville Girls Soccer Update

#4 seed Unionville took on #13 West Chester Rustin last night in the 2nd round of District One soccer playoffs.  After a sluggish start, Unionville touched the back of the net with an Erin Garvey pass to Veronica Hineman goal to open up the scoring.  Unionville was far from done.  Alex Wilson blistered a corner kick to get Veronica her second goal of the game.  Not be outdone, Claire Matson hits a laser passed the Rustin goalie to make it 3-0 game.  The defense played another fantastic game keeping the Rustin offense silent and earning their 15th shutout for the season.  Unionville takes their 17-2 record into the District Quarterfinals against Neshaminy on Saturday at UHS stadium.  Keep checking your Twitter account for updates on the time of the game.

Unionville Women's Soccer Update 10/4/17

Unionville Women’s Varsity Soccer entered the perennial powerhouse of Downingtown East last night for the battle of the titans.  The winner puts themselves in a good position to win the Ches-Mont League title.  The Varsity game was a thriller despite the score being 0-0 at the half.  It didn’t take long for freshman, Alex Wilson, to strike the back of the net giving Unionville the 1-0 lead 3 minutes into the second half.   Not to be outdone, Jackie Hug took a breakaway and put the game out of reach for second goal.  The Defense is on complete fire notching their sixth consecutive shutout and District One leading 10 shutout for the season.   Unionville now enters the weekend with a Ches-Mont record of 9-0 and an overall record of 11-2.

Not to be outdone, the JV team took on Downingtown East last night as well.  A tug of war throughout the entire game occurred.  Once the dust settled, the score remained at 0-0, but there was plenty of action in the last 5 minutes of the game.  Super standouts for Unionville included Hannah Firment & Erin O’Leary.  Congrats on holding the line and keeping the Dtown East off the scoreboard!

UHS Women's Soccer Update

Tuesday night was a beautiful night for UHS Women’s soccer.  The weather was crisp as was the play of the our teams.  The JV team took care of Octorara by posting a 7-0 victory.  Erin Mazur pulled off a hat trick for Unionville.  Catherine “the Claw” Clisham had another stellar night in net posting another bagel.

The Varsity team took care of Octorara in similar fashion with a 7-0 win.  No, it was not a football game.  It was solid play on all sides of the ball.  The defense posted their 9th (yes, I said 9th) shutout for the season to lead all District One teams.

Big, big game against Downingtown East on Wednesday night at 7:00 for the Varsity team.   Not sure if we will have free pizza, but come on out support the team on Wednesday!!!
