T+F update

On Saturday the track and field team opened their season at the Upper Darby Relays.

The girls  team won the DMR and the team of Mia Prantil, Sophie Schenk, Lyndsay Hastings and Mikayla Bucci broke a 14 year old school record in the 4 x 200 meter relay.

The boys team was led by the medaling duo of Erik Lapszynski and Kyle Garvey,

Both teams open their league meet season on Wednesday at home -- get your tickets early.

Garnet Valley-12 Unionville - 2

Unionville Varsity baseball lost their non-league season opener by a score of 12-2 to Garnet Valley.  Theron Schilling was 1-2 with an RBI and Brady Horne was 1-1 with a walk and a run scored.
Our league home opener is scheduled for Monday at 4pm vs. W.C. Rustin

Girls Varsity Ice Hockey
Congratulations to the girls varsity team for winning the Flyers Cup on Friday night!  They had an undefeated season going 21-0 and won both the league and Flyers Cup championships.  They faced West Chester East in the final game and dominated the ice all night, winning by a score of 9-2. Goals were made by Madison Doucette, Jordan Hower, Claire Donovan and Katie Anderson.  Assists were given from Jordan Hower, Madison Doucette, Hannah Close, Mia Impagliazzo, Claire Donovan, Anna Nolan and Kaelen Speck.  They team played strong all season and worked hard to keep their championship titles!

Girls Varsity Ice Hockey
The girls were no match for Downingtown East in the semi-final game of the 2017 Flyers Cup on Thursday night.  With a great team effort and a shut out for Mackenzie Myers, the girls finished the night with a 9-0 victory. Goals were scored by Claire Donovan, Madison Doucette, Katie Anderson and Kaelen Speck.  Assists came from Hannah Close, Madison Doucette, Katie Anderson, Jordan Hower, Kaelen Speck and Claire Donovan. The team plays in the championship game on Friday, March 17 at 8:30 at Ice Line.  Head out to the rink to cheer the girls on to bring home the Flyers Cup again!

Girls Varsity Ice Hockey
Congratulations to the girls for winning the ICSHL League Championship on Thursday, March 9 with a 19-0 record and bringing home the trophy again! It was a close game all night and the girls persevered with skilled teamwork to finish with a 3-2 victory over Downingtown West. Mackenzie Myers had a great game in goal and stopped 22 shots on net. Goals were scored by Kaelen Speck, Madison Doucette and Katie Anderson.  Assists came from Madison Doucette, Hannah Close and Allie Ward.  The girls head back to Ice Line on Thursday, March 16 at 6:30 for the semi-final game of the Flyers Cup. Come out to support them on their run at bringing home the Flyers Cup!

Varsity Boys Ice Hockey

The varsity boys ice hockey team won their first game of the Flyers Cup last night, defeating Palmyra by a score of 6 to 4. Goals were scored by Joey Impagliazzo, Jamie Wenzel, Ben Brucker and Jack McKenna. Assists were made by Tyler Glennon and Aiden Masters. Goalie Ben Basilio played a solid game in net and was assisted by outstanding effort from the defensive unit. The team's next game is tonight (Thursday) at Iceline at 8:30 pm. Come out to support the team as they face off against 3 time defending state champion, Rustin. Hope to see U at the rink!

It was another 11-1 victory for the team on Wednesday night when they defeated West Chester East in the semi-final round of the league playoffs. The puck was put in the net with shots from Katie Anderson, Kaelen Speck, Madison Doucette, Jordan Hower, Hannah Close, Claire Donovan and Maidson Miles.  Assists came from Anna Nolan, Claire Donovan, Jordan Hower, Madison Doucette, Allie Ward, Kaelen Speck, Katie Anderson and Sierra Dycio.  The girls are back on the ice Thursday, March 9 at 7:45 at Ice Line to defeat Downingtown West and bring home the champions trophy again!

The 10 goal mercy rule came into play again Friday night when the girls defeated Lansdale Catholic 11-1 in the first round of league playoffs.  Goals were scored by Madison Doucette, Katie Anderson, Jordan Hower, Claire Donovan and Madison Miles.  Assists were give from Jordan Hower, Madison Miles, Allie Ward, Mia Impagliazzo, Katie Anderson, Hannah Close, Claire Donovan and Madison Doucette.  Defense provided a strong front and limited Lansdale to seven shots on goal.   The girls will take on West Chester East on Wednesday, March 8 at 6:30 at Ice Line in the semi-final round of the league playoffs.  See U at the rink!

Indoor states update

The Indoor Track and Field team finished their season Saturday at State College at the Championship meet.

The team was led by senior Anna Juul's 2nd place finish in the mile, with a time of 4:56.14.  The 4x800 meter relay team made up of Marcella Krautzel, Jilian Brislin, Makayla Bucci and Eleizabeth Edwards finished 13th.

Outdoor Track anf Field starts next Monday and it is not too late to join!

The varsity boys ice hockey team lost their final game of the regular season to West Chester East by a score of 6 to 5.  The team was down 4-0 midway through the game but battled back to tie it 4-4 at the end of the second period.  Goals were scored by Aiden Masters, Tyler Glennon and Jack McKenna. Assists were made by Joey Impagliazzo, Cade Lenkaitis and Tait Mott. Strong defensive play by Paul Malone, Oscar Daum, Bryce Halsey and Curtis Jones helped as goalie Ben Basilio made 27 saves in net. 
The team will start the Chesmont playoffs on Monday, February 27th at Iceline at 6:30 pm. This game will be a rematch with West Chester East! Hope to see U at the rink!

JV Boys Ice Hockey

The jv boys ice hockey team won their first playoff game on Sunday night defeating Springfield 5 to 3. Philip Doucette started the scoring and Tait Mott and Ben Brucker added 2 goals each. Assists were made by Ben Brucker, Jake Petrillo and Philip Doucette. The team will face Downingtown West in the second round of the playoffs on Wednesday, February 15th at Iceline at 8:30 pm. The girls shutout Garnet Valley on Friday night with a final score of 10-0.  Defense kept their opponent out of the scoring zone while offense controlled the puck at the net.  Claire Donovan, Madison Doucette, Sierra Dycio, Jordan Hower and Madison Miles scored for the team.  Assists came from Madison Miles, Jordan Hower, Allie Ward, Madison Doucette, Nina Impagliazzo, Anna Nolan and Claire Donavan.  The team has a short break before they play their final regular season game and then begin playoffs.  Senior players Sierra Dycio, Mackenzie Myers and Allie Ward will be recognized on Friday, February 24 when the team takes on Lansdale Catholic at 6:45 PM at the Barn.  See U at the rink! 

The Unionville girls basketball program defeated Kennett by a score of 52-47. Leading the way for the Indians was Maddie Shanahan with 21 points and 12 rebounds. Sophia Detweiler added 10 points and Sarah Covert chipped in with 9. The U finished the regular season with a 13-9 record and is eagerly waiting for an opportunity to play in the district finals.

UHS Boys Varsity Basketball Results vs Kennett

The Unionville Varsity Boys Basketball team won Friday night's division game vs Kennett 63-46.  Unionville was led by their six seniors Scottie Miller, Andrew Burich, Zeb Martelli, Brendan Barrett, Chris D'Amico and Val Dobbins.   Scottie Miller led the charge with 24 points including 5 three pointers.  Andrew Burich contributed 15 points and 9 rebounds.  Zeb Martelli was a force inside with 5 points, 5 rebounds and 5 blocks.   Brendan Barrett had 10 points and 9 rebounds.   Chris D'Amico and Val Dobbins contributed 2 points each and played great defense in the win.  Unionville ends their season with a 6-6 ChesMont record and 10-12 overall record.

Boys Varsity Basketball Results at Oxford

The Unionville Varsity Boys Basketball Team lost to Oxford 88-79 on Tuesday night.  The Indians battled back from a 21 point 3rd quarter to deficit to pull within 4 points late but were unable to get any closer.   The Indians were led by Scottie Miller with 22 points and Brendan Barrett with 14 points.   Andrew Burich contributed 8 points and was a force on the glass and defensively.  The Indians take on Kennett high school on Thursday night.

February 7 Freshman Boys' Basketball Results

 In the season finale, the freshman boys' basketball team defeated Downingtown East, 38-31. Owen Dunn was the leading scorer with 10 points; Jon Passarello added 8. Declan Boyle pulled down 7 rebounds and Dunn added 5. The 9th graders ended the season with a 12-4 record...their four loses were by an average of only 4 points. Congratulations to Coach Clark and the squad on a successful first year of high school basketball.

The varsity boys ice hockey team was back in action on Monday night. The team defeated Owen J. Roberts by a score of 6 to 2. Goals were scored by Tyler Glennon, Paul Malone, Jamie Wenzel, Joey Impagliazzo and Ben Brucker. Assists were made by Tait Mott and Paul Malone. Goalie Ben Basilio made 24 saves in net. The team's next game is Friday, February 24th at 8:30 pm when they take on West Chester East. Hope to see U at the rink!

Indoor Track and Field update

The Indoor track and field team competed at Kutztown University Friday night and were led by strong performances from Holy Clark, Anna Juul and Brett Wagner.  The girls 4 x 800 meter relay team also won their relay with a state qualifying time.  There is an informational outdoor track and field meeting this Wednesday at 2:30 in the LGI.

The Unionville Varsity Boys Basketball team lost their non-conference game to Strath Haven by a score of 73-52.   Zeb Martelli and Scottie Miller led the Indians with 12 and 10 points respectively.   The Indians resume action on Tuesday night at 7:30 vs Oxford.

Re: UHS Girls JV Basketball Recap; Feb 4 vs Owen J Roberts

The girls JV basketball team lost a tough game to Owen J. Roberts on Saturday afternoon, by a score of 37-34.  Meghan Megill was the game's high scorer with 12 points.  Kathie Heldt and Erin Towler each pulled down 9 rebounds in the defeat.  The girls put their 11-5 record on the line against ChesMont rival, Oxford, at home on Tuesday evening, February 7.

Girls Varsity Ice Hockey
The team continued their undefeated season on Friday night with a competitive game against Downingtown West.  With a final score of 6-2, the team is in first place with a record of 14-0 and they have two games left in the regular season.  Madison Doucette, Hannah Close and Jordan Hower put the puck in the net.  Kaelen Speck, Claire Donovan, Allie Ward and Madison Doucette provided assists.  The team heads back to the ice on Friday, February 10 against Garnet Valley at Ice Works for a 9:45 PM game.  See U at the rink!

The Unionville girls basketball program beat Great Valley last night by a score of 44-29. Leading the way for the Indians was Grace Schrof with 13 points. Sophia Detweiler had 11 and Maddie Shanahan helped with 8. Saturday the Indians will battle Owen J Roberts at home.

Varsity Boys Basketball results at Great Valley

The Unionville Boys Basketball team lost a hard fought game to Great Valley by a score of 52-45.  The Indians were led by Bo Furey- Bastian with 11 points and Joe Zubilaga with 10. Scottie Miller and Andrew Burich chipped in with 7 points each.   The Indians resume action on Saturday afternoon with an away game at Strath Haven at 2:30.

UHS Girls JV Basketball Recap; Feb 2 vs Great Valley

The girls JV basketball team defeated Great Valley last night, 30-16, bringing their record to 11 wins and 4 losses.  Erin Towler was the game's high scorer with 10 points, while Riley Moriarty, Anna Iacocca, Casey Baughan, and Meghan Megill each chipped in 4 points a piece.  The next home game is Saturday afternoon at 1:00 against Owen J. February 2 Freshman Boys' Basketball Results

Kennett held an 8-7 edge at the end of the first quarter and that was the last time the Blue Demons would lead as the freshman boys' basketball team used stifling defense in an overwhelming 40-18 victory. The Indians'  big men blocked 12 shots and pulled down 20 rebounds. Gabe D'Angelo was tops in scoring and rebounding with 8 and 4 respectively.  The last home game for the 9th grade squad, which has an 11-3 record, is Monday at 3:15 against Rustin at home.

Girls Varsity Ice Hockey
The girls had another successful night on the ice against West Chester East on February 1.  It was a great team effort to put up a final score of 12-3. Jordan Hower, Madison Doucette, Lizzie Gaebel, Kaelen Speck, Claire Donovan, Sierra Dycio and Hannah Close all had goals.  Assists were provided by
Kaelen Speck, Katie Anderson, Allie Ward, Mia Impagliazzo, Claire Donovan, Jordan Hower, Madison Doucette, Anna Nolan and Sierra Dycio.  The team heads back to the rink on Friday, February 3 to take on Downingtown West at 7:40 PM at Ice Line.  Hope to see U at the rink!

The Unionville girls basketball program lost to Rustin Tuesday night by a score of 55-45. Leading the way for the Indians was Grace Schrof with 14 points. Maddie Shanahan had 13 and Sam Ciccarelli and Sarah Covert both added 7. The Indians will have another league challenge on Thursday February 2nd at home against Great Valley.
