Unionville Women's Soccer Update 10/4/17

Unionville Women’s Varsity Soccer entered the perennial powerhouse of Downingtown East last night for the battle of the titans.  The winner puts themselves in a good position to win the Ches-Mont League title.  The Varsity game was a thriller despite the score being 0-0 at the half.  It didn’t take long for freshman, Alex Wilson, to strike the back of the net giving Unionville the 1-0 lead 3 minutes into the second half.   Not to be outdone, Jackie Hug took a breakaway and put the game out of reach for second goal.  The Defense is on complete fire notching their sixth consecutive shutout and District One leading 10 shutout for the season.   Unionville now enters the weekend with a Ches-Mont record of 9-0 and an overall record of 11-2.

Not to be outdone, the JV team took on Downingtown East last night as well.  A tug of war throughout the entire game occurred.  Once the dust settled, the score remained at 0-0, but there was plenty of action in the last 5 minutes of the game.  Super standouts for Unionville included Hannah Firment & Erin O’Leary.  Congrats on holding the line and keeping the Dtown East off the scoreboard!

UHS Women's Soccer Score Update

The JV girls soccer team kept their win streak alive by pulling off a win at West Chester Rustin last night.  Allie Foote scored the lone goal off a PK.  Standout performances included Erin Mazur on attack, Hadley McKnight in the mid-field and Jenny Keglovitz on the defense.  Catherine Clisham tucked away another shutout.  Congrats to the JV girls soccer as they improved to 6-2-2 overall.

Varsity (9-2-0)  took on another local rival in West Chester Rustin last night.  Injuries impacted the Unionville lineup, but the chemistry was equally strong.  Brooke Cicchino broke the ice with a high flying corner kick that Veronica Hineman softly placed in the back of the net.   The defense was in “bend but don’t break” mode last evening and that’s just what the doctor ordered.  Katie Borlie returned in net and the DEFENSE extended their scoreless streak to 8 games which leads the Ches-Mont.  Once the clock hit zero, Unionville proudly walked away with a 1-0 victory!!!!

Unionville Women's Soccer Update

Unionville JV Soccer took to the pitch again last night with a match against Great Valley.   By the time the game ended, Unionville walked away with a sound victory, 3-0.   This win takes the JV squad’s record to 4-2-2 for the season.  The defensive front was the Berlin Wall as they didn’t let Great Valley get a quality shot off the entire game.  Compliments to Hannah Firment, Alexia Brown, Julia Raffety, & Shannon Garvey as they held the fort down.

The Varsity team took on the underrated Great Valley last night as well.  The Patriots got off to fast start with a few direct shots that put Unionville on its heels.    It didn’t take long for Unionville to fix the ship.  Brooke Cicchino broke the ice with a corner kick that was placed in the net by Veronica Hineman.  The north/south connection occurred later in the first half as defender, Erin Garvey, places the ball to Hineman who finds Sam Ciccarelli who eventually put the second goal on the board.  Julia Capperella finished the night with a pass to V to end the night with a 3-0 victory.  Amazingly, this was the defense’s 7th shutout of the season.   The Varsity soccer team’s record (8-2) leads the Ches-Mont with a big game at West Chester Rustin at 7:00 PM on Wednesday.  Stay tuned for details about possible free food at this game on Wednesday morning’s announcement!

UHS Women's Soccer Results: 9/18

Bishop Shanahan Game

The Unionville JV women’s soccer team got the night off to a fast start.  The scoring was taken care of early with Mikayla Bucci leading the charge.  Before the night was through, Mikayla went home with a hat trick as Unionville wins 3-0.  Catherine Clisham had another shut out in goal and the defensive unit of Hanna Firment, Alexia Brown, & Shannon Garvey operated like the Berlin Wall.  Nothing go through.

The Varsity soccer team took care of business again on Monday night.  Despite the feisty play of the visiting opponent, Bishop Shanahan, Unionville got on the scoreboard early.  In typical fashion, Sam Ciccarelli barreled through their defense to light up the scoreboard with our first goal.  From there, it all was Unionville with goals scored by Alex Wilson (2), Veronica Hineman, Jackie Hug, and Alexxa (2 x’s) Conroy.  Anchoring the defense with their 6th shutout of the year was Erin Garvey & Lauren Bell.

The Unionville women’s soccer team takes their show on the road as they head to Oxford for a 3:45 PM game on Wednesday, September 20th.
