The Unionville girls basketball program lost to Rustin Tuesday night by a score of 55-45. Leading the way for the Indians was Grace Schrof with 14 points. Maddie Shanahan had 13 and Sam Ciccarelli and Sarah Covert both added 7. The Indians will have another league challenge on Thursday February 2nd at home against Great Valley.

Boys Varsity Basketball Results vs Rustin

The Unionville Boys Basketball team defeated Rustin on Tuesday night by a score of 51-39.  The Indians jumped out to a 8-0 lead and led the entire game.  Bo Furey- Bastian led the Indians with 19 points.  Brendan Barrett and Scottie Miller chipped in 10 and 9 points respectively.  Andrew Burich, Zeb Martelli, Sean Rafferty and Joe Zubilaga provided tremendous post defense and rebounding in the victory.  The Indians are now 5-4 in the Ches-Mont and 9-9 overall.

January 31 Freshman Boys' Hoops Results

 Defensive rebounds leading to fast breaks propelled the freshman boys' basketball team to a 35-24 win over Downingtown West. Owen Dunn led the squad with 8 points, 4 rebounds and 2 blocked shots. Bryce Whitlock and Jon Passarello contributed 6 points each. The graders have a 10-3 record and will go for the sweep of Kennett at Kennett on Thursday at 3:15. Students are encouraged to try to make the short trip across Route 1 to support the freshmen!

Girls Varsity Ice Hockey
The girls had their third straight shutout 10-0 win on Thursday, January 26 against Lower Merion.  Goals were scored by Madison Doucette, Claire Donovan, Katie Anderson, Kaelen Speck and Lizzie Gaebel.  Assists came from Katie Anderson, Nina Impagliazzo, Hannah Close, Kaelen Speck, Claire Donovan, Mia Impagliazzo and Madison Doucette.  The girls have two games this week.  On Wednesday, February 1 they face off with West Chester East at 9:10 PM. Friday, February 3 they head back to the rink to take on Downingtown West at 7:40 PM.  Both games will be at Ice Line.  Hope to see U at the rink!




The Unionville girls basketball team lost a nail biter to Shanahan last night by a score of 46-42. Leading the way for the U was Grace Schrof with 19 points. Maddie Shanahan added 11. Unionville will face Rustin for a big league game on Tuesday the 31st.

The girls JV basketball team notched their 10th win against just 3 losses Friday evening, defeating Bishop Shanahan, 24-23.  Meghan Megill led a balanced scoring attack, scoring 7 points.  Erin Towler added 6 points and Olivia Cresta, 5.  The girls' next game is at Rustin on Tuesday evening, January 31 at 6:00.
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
The Unionville girls basketball program traveled to Downingtown East and defeated the 12-3 Cougars in overtime by a score of 47-42. Leading the way for the Indians was Grace Schrof with 13 points. Maddie Shanahan and Sophia Detweiler both added 12 points and did a phenomenal job on the defensive end of the floor. The Indians are 10-6 and will face Bishop Shanahan at home on Friday night.

Jan 25 9th grade hoops results

 A three-point bucket by Logan Shanahan, a key defensive rebound by Declan Boyle, and a made free threw by Matt Cutrona within the last 50 seconds of the game allowed the freshman boys' basketball team to edge Great Valley, 29-28. Bryce Whitlock was the high scorer with 10 points and Michael Walter-Dillon was the top defender with 6 rebounds and 2 blocked shots. The team, which has an 8-3 record, plays next Tuesday at Downingtown West and against cross-town rival Kennett next Thursday at KHS.

Unionville Varsity Boys Basketball Results vs Octorara

The Unionville Boys Varsity Basketball Team defeated Octorara on Tuesday night 71-58.  Many players contributed to the win with Andrew Burich scoring a game high 21 points, including a breakaway dunk in the 4th quarter.   Scottie Miller, Bo Furey-Bastian, and Zeb Martelli all reached double figures with 12, 11 and 10 points. Joe Zubilaga, Sean Rafferty and Brendan Barrett provided great defense, rebounding and several assists each in the win.   The Indians host Bishop Shanahan on Friday at 4 PM.

Jan 24 2017 freshman basketball result

 The freshman boys' basketball team clawed back from a 13-point third quarter deficit, but fell just short to Coatesville, 39-37. The team is 7-3, and its three losses have been by a total of 8 points. Bryce Whitlock was the leading scorer with 9 points and Declan Boyle and Jon Passarello added 8 each. The next game is Thursday at Great Valley...but the big game is Thursday, February 2 at Kennett at 3:30pm.

All athletes planning to participate in a spring sport at UHS (including Rugby and Rowing Clubs) must submit the following forms by Monday, February 27th. 


1) PIAA Sports Physical Exam Form (CIPPE) Sections 1-6


2) IMPACT Concussion Testing Consent/Waiver Form (once per school year)


3) PIAA CIPPE Section 7 Form: Re-Certification by Parent/Guardian (Must submit this form if you played a fall or winter sport or if your forms were completed earlier than January 23, 2017)


All forms are available online or in the Athletics or Main Office. 


Tryouts for Spring Sports will begin on Monday, March 6th.

Jan 19 freshman boys' hoops results


 
An all-around team effort led the freshman basketball team 
to a 42-28 win over Henderson.
Jon Passarello scored 9 points, followed by Declan Boyle with 8
and Matt Cutrona and Bryce Whitlock with 6 each. Gabe De'Angelo
pulled down 7 rebounds. The team, which is 7-2, hosts Coatesville Tuesday at 3:15 in the last home game of the season.

UHS Boys' Basketball Pink Out on 1/31/17

UHS Boys' Basketball Pink Out on 1/31/17 
The Unionville Boys' Basketball Hoopsters will be hosting a PINK fundraiser for Unite for Her (UFH) on Tuesday, January 31st during their home, JV and Varsity games vs. Octorara beginning at 6pm. This will also be UCFSD Elementary School Spirit Night!

To make the night a success, and raise funds for UFH (a local non-profit organization that provides support, services and numerous resources for women in the community diagnosed with breast cancer) they need your help! There will be a UFH Bake Sale and a 50/50 Raffle. 

Also, they will be selling pink WE ARE UNIONVILLE Unite for Her tees for $15 at the door on January 31st. They would love to create a PINK OUT! So, if you already have a Unite for Her tee, please wear it to the game or plan to purchase yours at the door!

The team is now 9-0 after defeating Bishop Shanahan on January 13.  The game ended in the first ten seconds of the third period under the mercy rule with a final score of 10-0.  Goals were scored by Hannah Close, Jordan Hower, Claire Donovan, Lizzie Gaebel, Natalie Thorley and Aurora McDevitt.  Assists were given from Claire Donovan, Madison Miles, Katie Anderson and Lizzie Gaebel.  The girls head back to the ice on Friday, January 20 at Ice Line at 4:45 PM when they take on Garnet Valley.

Boys Varsity Basketball Results at Kennett

The Unionville Boys Varsity Basketball Team beat Kennett on Tuesday night by a score of 72-55.  The Indians overcame a 8-0 deficit to build a 35-31 halftime lead.   The Indians pulled away in the 2nd half off of strong offensive performances by Scottie Miller and Bo Furey-Bastian, who scored 19 and 17 points respectively.  Chris D'Amico and Rourke Dillon were sparks off the bench scoring 8 points each and providing solid defense.   The Indians will play at Sun Valley High School on Thursday night at 7:15 PM.

 The freshman boys' basketball team's record is 6-2 after a 33-25 win over West Chester East. John Passarello scored nine points and Bryce Whitlock added 6. Declan Boyle pulled down 5 rebounds. The team plays Thursday at West Chester Henderson.

Varsity Boys Basketball Results vs. Avon Grove

The Unionville Varsity Boys Basketball Team beat Avon Grove 39-37 on Friday night.   The hard fought contest featured many lead changes with Unionville taking the lead with three minutes to go and holding on after Avon Grove missed a 3 point attempt in the final seconds.  Bo Furey-Bastian led the Indians with 14 points. Joe Zubilaga and Andrew Burich chipped in 6 points each as well as several rebounds and solid defense.   The Indians play at Kennett HS on Tuesday, January  17 at 7:15 PM.

College-Signing Photo Opportunity

Attention Student-Athletes:

February 1st is the second National Letter of Intent signing date of the school-year. On this date, we will be taking group photos of our athletes at 7:15AM.  Any senior-athlete who has played at the Varsity level for Unionville High School this year, and plans to continue their playing career in college, is invited to attend.  This photo opportunity is open to all UHS Varsity student-athletes that will play in college (D1, D2, D3, etc.)

So that coaches and parents may be included, we ask that athletes planning to attend please come to the Athletic Office (Room 176) by Wednesday, January 25th to sign-up. Please note, there will be one final photo opportunity for senior-athletes in May.

Varsity Boys Basketball Results vs. Oxford

The Varsity Boys Basketball team defeated Oxford
70-62.  The Indians jumped out to a 20-6 lead at the end of the first quarter with strong performances by Rourke Dillon, Wyatt Hockenberry, Drew Lenkaitis, Joe Zubilaga, and Sean Rafferty.   Brendan Barrett led the Indians with 15 points. Scottie Miller contributed 13 points and Andrew Burich added 10 points, including a breakaway dunk late in the 4th quarter to help seal the win.  The  Indians take on Avon Grove tomorrow night at 7:15.

9th grade hoops result 1/12/17

 The 9th grade boys basketball team came back from a first-half 10-point deficit, but feel just short of a win at Coatesville, 38-36. Jon Passarello was the leading scorer with 14 points. Declan Boyle pulled down 10 rebounds. The team plays next Tuesday at West Chester East.

Girls Varsity Ice Hockey
The team defeated Lansdale Catholic by a score of 7-1 last Friday night in Hatfiled.  Goals were scored by Anna Nolan, Katie Anderson, Kaelen Speck, Lizzy Gaebel and Hannah Close.  Assists were given from Jordan Hower, Hannah Close, Nina Impagliazzo, Mia Impagliazzo, Madison Miles, Anna Nolan and Kaelen Speck.   Check out their game this Friday, January 13 at the Barn at Upland Country Day school when they take on Bishop Shannahan at 6:45 PM.




Unionville Boys Basketball

Freshman player, Matt Cutrona, hit a 3-pointer with 10 seconds on the clock to defeat Downingtown East, 41-39! Freshman, Pete Kucharczuk, hit a game winning buzzer beater to secure a huge win against Great Valley for the JV team! Varsity suffered a hard fought defeat. Next game THURSDAY and don't miss the WHITE OUT on FRIDAY!

Re: UHS Girls JV Basketball Recap; Jan 10 vs Great Valley

Tuesday evening, the girls JV basketball team used a 17-4 fourth quarter run to overcome a 9-point deficit and beat Great Valley, 30-26.   Meghan Megill led the way with 8 points, including shooting 4 for 4 from the foul line in the last 2 minutes of the game.  The Lady Indians take their 6-1 record to Oxford for their next game on Thursday evening, January 12.
 
 
 
 

Unionville Boys Varsity Basketball Results vs Great Valley

The Unionville Boys Varsity Basketball Team lost to Great Valley 45-25.   Joe Zubilaga led the Indians with 6 points while Wyatt Hockenberry contributed 5 points.  The Indians host Oxford on Thursday night.

9th grade hoops results 1/10/2017

 Matt Cutrona hit a 3-point shot with 10 seconds left in the game to lead the 9th grade basketball team to a 41-39 win over Downingtown East. John Passarello was the high scorer with 9 points and Owen Dunn added 8. DeClan Boyle was the top rebounder. The team is 5-1 and plays at Coatesville on Thursday, January 12.
The Unionville girls basketball program was on the road and defeated Great Valley by a score of 36-30. Leading the way for the Lady Indians was Maddie Shanahan with 11 points. Grace Schrof chipped in 8 points and Sophia Detweiler had 7. The U travels to Oxford on Thursday and battles a tough Hornet program.

Unionville JV boys improved to 9-0 with a 52-31 win over Rustin. Conor Ash led the scoring with 12 and Peter Kucharczuk added 9.

Unionville basketball results at Rustin

The Unionville Varsity Boys Basketball team lost to Rustin on Thursday night by a score of 51-38.  The Indians turned in a strong defensive effort but was not able to overcome a tough shooting night collectively as a team.  Scottie Miller led the Indians with 11 points.  Andrew Burich scored 8 points and Chris D'Amico contributed 4 points.  The Indians are now 4-6 overall and 1-2 in the division.

Unionville's JV girls basketball team defeated the visitors from Rustin 29-19 Thursday evening on the way to their 5th victory of the season, against only one loss.  High scorers in the game were Meghan Megill and Erin Towler, each with 8 points.  Kathy Heldt chipped in with 13 rebounds.  The girls' next game is Tuesday, January 10 at Great Valley.

The Lady Indians JV basketball team split their 2 games in the West Chester University JV Tournament over the holidays.  Unionville beat Lower Merion 21-17 in the first game, led by Olivia Cresta and Anna Iacocca, who each scored 7 points.  The second game saw the UHS JVs fall to an experienced Central Bucks East team, 38-15.  Sam Ciccarelli and Kathie Heldt each scored 4 points in the loss.  The girls' next game is against Downingtown West on Tuesday evening, January 3, at Unionville.

The (6-2) Unionville lady Indians beat Downingtown West last night by a score of 36-24. Leading the way for the Indians was Grace Schrof with 12 points. Sophia Detweiler, Maddie Shanahan and Olivia Budow each added 6 points. Thursday January 5th the Indians will battle Rustin high school at home starting at 6:00pm. Come on out and show your support.
